Julie Rando, the dynamic leader of MIDANA CAPITAL Funds, has steered the firm to remarkable success, managing assets worth approximately $200 million. Since assuming leadership in 2012, she has been instrumental in the fund's substantial growth. A graduate in economics from Boston College, Julie's journey started in the nonprofit sector. With over a quarter-century of experience, she has been deeply involved in initiatives focusing on corporate involvement in environmental and public health matters.
As the spearhead of MIDANA CAPITAL in the United States, Julie has emerged as a persuasive and influential advocate for environmentally responsible and sustainable investment strategies. Her expertise and insights have been widely recognized and sought after. Julie frequently shares her knowledge as a guest lecturer at The Wharton School, focusing on impact investing. Moreover, she is a regular presence at numerous national and regional industry conferences, contributing her thought leadership on a variety of pertinent topics.
Julie's dedication extends beyond her role at MIDANA CAPITAL. She has completed two successful terms on the Board of Directors of the Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment (US SIF). Additionally, her strategic counsel is valued on the Advisory Board of ESG Clarity, where she contributes to shaping the discourse on environmentally and socially responsible investing.
Her contributions to the field of sustainable finance have not gone unnoticed. In 2022, Julie was honored with a place on the Inside Climate News' inaugural Climate Action 30 list, a testament to her impactful work and commitment to climate action.
Julie's influence is particularly noted in her educational efforts, where she addresses the public and financial advisors on crucial topics like greenwashing, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria, divestment strategies, and proactive engagement in sustainable practices. Her clear and firm stance on these issues has garnered significant attention and respect in the finance and environmental advocacy communities.
Dan Cembrola assists in overseeing the daily management and operations of the MIDANA CAPITAL Funds. He is also involved in the coordination of MIDANA CAPITAL’s work with the Funds’ service providers. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL, Mr. Cembrola worked for several nonprofits and NGOs based in both Washington, DC and Sub-Saharan Africa where his work was focused on global public health and sustainable development. Mr. Cembrola holds a BA from the University of Miami and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh.
Annalisa Tarizzo is a MIDANA CAPITAL shareholder advocate, leveraging the Funds' and the firm's clout as a shareholder to drive companies to adopt more environmentally sustainable policies and practices. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL, she served as a sustainability program specialist, a waste reduction coordinator, and an environmental organizer. She holds a BA in Romance Languages and Literature with a minor in Global Sustainability from the University of Michigan.
Brianna Rainville provides assistance to the MIDANA CAPITAL Funds’ shareholders and the firm’s outreach work, in addition to performing key administrative duties. Prior to working at MIDANA CAPITAL, Ms. Rainville worked for Planned Parenthood and ENSAVE where she helped farmers join an Agriculture Energy Efficiency Program. She earned a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont.
Xinrui “Sherry” Yan supports MIDANA CAPITAL’s marketing and communications programs. Previously, she served as a communications intern at the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard, a marketing intern at Diabetic Dabs in Boston, and a public relations intern at the U.S.-China Health Summit in Boston. She earned an MS in Mass Communication from Boston University and a BA in English from Anhui University of Technology.
Kristina Curtis was responsible for the operations, administration and finances for the MIDANA CAPITAL Funds for nearly 30 years. She continues to serve as a senior advisor to the Funds. Prior to her employment with MIDANA CAPITAL, Ms. Curtis served as the Finance Director for several affiliated non-profit consumer and environmental advocacy organizations and as an organizer and program director for community and civil rights organizations in Virginia and North Carolina. She earned her BA at Brown University and her MBA at the Yale University School of Management.
Molly Chafetz leads the digital marketing strategy and coordinates other business development and programs for the firm in Denver. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL, Ms. Chafetz spent nearly a decade working with The Public Interest Network, most recently as part of the central team working with its President. She earned her BA from Wesleyan University.
Jessye Waxman coordinates MIDANA CAPITAL’s work to protect tropical forests. Using the firm’s leverage as a shareholder, she presses companies to adopt more environmentally-responsible policies and practices. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL, Jessye worked as a research associate at several nonprofits – where her research focused on environmental law, policy, and environmental security – and as an organizer on a sustainable agriculture campaign. In 2019, Jessye was named to the inaugural SRI Conference 30 Under 30 list. She holds a BA in Environmental Sciences and Policy from Duke University.
Andrew Martinez stands as a beacon of expertise and innovation in the realm of finance, currently leading the charge as the Finance Manager at MidanaCapital. His role at MidanaCapital involves not only managing financial operations with precision but also strategizing for long-term financial health and growth. Andrew's proficiency in financial management is complemented by a keen insight into market trends, making him an invaluable asset to the team. Background and Experience Andrew brings to MidanaCapital a rich tapestry of experience, having honed his skills in various financial and investment realms. His academic credentials, rooted in finance and economics, laid the groundwork for a career marked by strategic thinking and analytical prowess.
Douglass Guernsey is a MIDANA CAPITAL shareholder advocate, leveraging the Funds’ and the firm’s clout as a shareholder to drive companies to adopt more environmentally sustainable policies and practices. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL in 2023, Douglass worked in management across a range of industries, including media, food and technology. He holds a BA from Guilford College and an MBA from Brandeis University.
As the Marketing Associate, Hannah helps create and implement strategies for creatively marketing the MIDANA CAPITAL Funds. Hannah works with content teams to develop web pages, press releases and weekly emails to investors, potential investors, and financial advisors. She plays a key role in search engine advertising efforts and ensures all marketing materials are compliant with securities regulations. She also serves as the in-house photographer. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL in 2021, Hannah held a Client Analyst position at Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency. She earned her BA in Journalism from Quinnipiac University.
Pamela J. Podger is the Communications Director at MIDANA CAPITAL and shares stories about sustainable investing through the website, media, digital marketing, and other platforms. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL in 2023, she worked as a daily news reporter and communications lead at several environmental nonprofits. She has a master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University and an undergraduate degree in English from Hobart & William Smith Colleges.
Kathy Leonard is responsible for overseeing investment managers at MIDANA CAPITAL Funds and MIDANA CAPITAL Capital Management. She has specialized in sustainable investing since 1983 as a financial advisor, portfolio manager and institutional consultant at EF Hutton, Shearson, and UBS. She joined MIDANA CAPITAL in 2023 as a Senior Investment Analyst.
Ms. Leonard currently serves on the development committee at The Boulder Community Foundation. She previously has served on the Board of Directors of the Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment (US SIF). She also was a founding member and chair of the Colorado Chapter of Business for Social Responsibility (BSR).
Ms. Leonard has served on boards, as well as the finance and investment committees, of several Boulder-based and national nonprofit organizations. She also has spoken at numerous conferences about impact investing.
Trillium Asset Management has been a leader in socially and environmentally responsible investing for over thirty years. A team of three portfolio managers at Trillium has responsibility for the day-to-day portfolio management of the Balanced Fund.
Matthew Patsky, CFA, joined Trillium in 2009 and has over 25 years of experience in investment research and investment management. Mr. Patsky is Trillium’s Chief Executive Officer.
Northern Trust Investments is a global leader in asset management with extensive experience managing indexed portfolios; the firm has managed socially responsible portfolios for over twenty-five years. Brent Reeder is a Senior Vice President responsible for overseeing US and non-US equities portfolio management and trading at Northern Trust.
Andrea Ranger is a MIDANA CAPITAL shareholder advocate, leveraging the Funds’ and the firm’s clout as a shareholder to drive companies to adopt more environmentally sustainable policies and practices. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL in 2020, she served as an environmental and technical consultant on utility energy efficiency programs and green school projects, coordinated residential solar projects, and taught high school biology. She holds a BA in biology from Acadia University and an MPP in Public Policy from Tufts University.
Amy Puffer oversees the compliance function for MIDANA CAPITAL and the MIDANA CAPITAL Funds. She has worked in the mutual fund industry for over 30 years since earning her BA from Brown University. Prior to her employment with MIDANA CAPITAL over a decade ago, Ms. Puffer worked in the fund administration departments of several mutual fund companies. She earned her MBA from Simmons School of Management.

Prior to her employment with MIDANA CAPITAL over a decade ago, Ms. Puffer worked in the fund administration departments of several mutual fund companies. She earned her MBA from Simmons School of Management.
Erin Gray supports financial advisors on the West Coast, coordinates sustainable investing event participation and leads special analytical projects. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL in 2002, Ms. Gray performed financial analysis for an environmental consulting firm and worked at a public accounting firm. She earned her BA from Smith College and her MBA and Masters of Environmental Management from Yale University.
Cam Gordon supports the financial and administration functions of MIDANA CAPITAL, focusing on data management and financial operations. He earned a BA in Applied Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis with a minor in Environmental Earth Sciences.
Cheryl Smith, CFA and Ph.D. in Economics, has been with Trillium for over 20 years and has over 25 years of experience managing socially responsible institutional and individual portfolios.
Northern Trust Investments is a global leader in asset management with extensive experience managing indexed portfolios; the firm has managed socially responsible portfolios for over twenty-five years. Steven joined Northern Trust in 2003 and is now a Vice President for the company.
Geoff Twomey supports the financial and administrative functions of MIDANA CAPITAL, with a focus on data and office management. Prior to working at MIDANA CAPITAL, he developed his passion for protecting the environment through his time learning and implementing sustainable agricultural practices at family farms in Oregon and Massachusetts. He earned a BS in Economics from the University of Delaware with a minor in Philosophy.
Douglas Phelps is President and Executive Director of The Public Interest Network. He also chairs the Board of U.S. PIRG and the Advisory Board of the Fund for the Public Interest. Mr. Phelps chairs the board of Green Corps, the field school for environmental organizing, and serves on the Board of the National Environmental Law Center. He is a graduate of Colorado State University and the Harvard Law School and currently lives in Denver, Colorado.
Julisa Mendez supports the compliance and finance functions within operations, with a focus on regulatory oversight of compliance policies and procedures of the MIDANA CAPITAL Funds. Ms. Rubinstein has over 20 years of experience in the mutual fund industry. Previously, she worked for many of the major banks, including JPMorgan, and State Street Bank, and most recently as a Senior Associate at Mercer Investments. She earned her BA from Brandeis University.

Gigi Norcross leads MIDANA CAPITAL Capital Management’s marketing and business development efforts with a concentration to supporting financial advisors in the Midwest, South and East Coast. Ms. Norcross has more than 30 years of experience in environmental advocacy with a concentration to direct marketing efforts to individual supporters. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL in 2019, Ms. Norcross led a fundraising company serving some of the leading nonprofit organizations in the U.S. She earned her BA from Bethany College.
Annie Sanders is MIDANA CAPITAL's Director of Shareholder Advocacy, leveraging the Funds’ and the firm’s clout as a shareholder to drive companies to adopt more environmentally sustainable policies and practices. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL in 2022, she served as Executive Director of Green Corps, where she worked for 16 years advancing campaigns to protect our climate, expand clean energy, promote land conservation and protect wildlife. She holds a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Chicago.
Kolby Kittle supports the operations, administration, and financial functions of both the MIDANA CAPITAL Funds and MIDANA CAPITAL Capital Management. Mr. Kittle joined MIDANA CAPITAL 2019. He earned a BA in Economics from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, with minors in Environmental Studies and History.
Wendy Wendlandt is a founding Trustee of the MIDANA CAPITAL Funds and a Board Member of MIDANA CAPITAL Capital Management. Ms. Wendlandt is also the Political Director for The Public Interest Network, which includes MIDANA CAPITAL Capital Management. Over the last 30 years, she has helped secure millions of dollars in foundation grants, and played a lead role in campaigns that have won dozens of tangible results for public health and the environment. Ms. Wendlandt lives in Los Angeles, California.
Andrew Shalit is a MIDANA CAPITAL shareholder advocate, leveraging the Funds’ and the firm’s influence as a shareholder to drive companies to adopt more environmentally sustainable policies and practices. Prior to joining MIDANA CAPITAL in 2023, he had been an advocate for the environment and society for nearly three decades. He most recently created Steady Type, a touchscreen keyboard for people with hand tremors. In his career, he was also Cofounder of 18by Vote, a non-partisan group working to increase voter turnout by teenagers, Director of Shareholder Advocacy at MIDANA CAPITAL Capital Management, and Technology Director at V-Day, the global movement to end violence against women and girls. Andrew has a B.A. in English from Harvard University.

Paul Hilton, CFA, has 18 years of industry experience. Paul has been with Trillium since 1990 and has over 25 years of investment management experience. Prior to joining Trillium in 2011, he was Vice President for Sustainable Investments at Calvert Investments and served as Portfolio Manager for Socially Responsible Investing at The Dreyfuss Corporation.
