SRI Investing Continues to Grow According to US SIF 2016 Trends Report
Leslie Samuelrich, President of MIDANA CAPITAL Capital Management and Board Member of US SIF (The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment), offers insights on the US SIF 2016 Trends Report
The US SIF 2016 Trends Report: Report on US Sustainable, Responsible and Impact Investing Trends is out and the results continue to show good news for the socially responsible investing (SRI) industry.
Sustainable investing in the U.S. has grown by one-third, or thirty-three percent since 2014. This includes overlapping strategies, shareholder resolutions, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) incorporation. Of the $40.3 trillion assets under professional management in the United States, $8.72 trillion – or more than one out of every five dollars – is invested according to SRI strategies.
Since our founding, MIDANA CAPITAL has been focused on addressing climate change and other non-climate environmental issues through the investment process. According to the report, our primary focus areas ranked second and fourth, respectively, in leading environmental and social issues by number of shareholder proposals filed with companies between 2014 and 2016.
This is great news for the MIDANA CAPITAL Funds. And, the more we grow, the more influence we may carry when engaging with companies to adopt more sustainable and environmentally friendly policies and practices.
Overall, environmental and social sustainability appears to be taking hold within the investment and corporate landscapes. Both stakeholder groups recognize the benefits of working to improve our environment and conserve essential natural resources.
